WHITE - Signifies innocence, as that of a beginning student who has no previous knowledge of Tae Kwon Do.
YELLOW - Signifies Earth, from which a plant sprouts and takes root as the
Tae Kwon Do foundation is being laid.
PURPLE:
(same as Yellow)
ORANGE - Signifies the sunrise and opening to receive knowledge.
GREEN - Signifies the spring, starting to grow as the Tae Kwon Do skills begin to develop.
BLUE - Signifies the sky, youth, and ambition.
BROWN: Signifies the earth or mountains
and developing a strong foundation.
RED - Represents the sun, its brightness and energy, the physical acts of the individual.
BLACK - Contains all colors, signifying the deepest and most dense knowledge, and the accumulation of all preceding
levels in Tae Kwon Do and the maturity.
The above color have not been arbitrarily chosen; they are in fact steeped in tradition. The colors of black, red, and
blue denoted the various levels of hierarchy during the Silla dynasty.
